The Fotangmen Tin Hau Ancient Temple (commonly known as the Grand Temple) mainly enshrines Tin Hau. It is one of the relatively ancient Tin Hau temples in Hong Kong and also one of the relatively ancient Tin Hau temples remaining along the coast of Guangdong. It was built in 1266, the second year of Xianchun in the Southern Song Dynasty. The temple still retains cultural relics such as an iron incense burner cast in 1804, the fourth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, and a bronze bell cast in 1840.
The temple is designed with three bays and a single entrance. The main hall enshrines the Goddess of Tin Hau. In the right side hall, there is a bronze bell and a dragon bed. Every year on the 23rd day of the third lunar month is Tin Hau’s birthday. On that day, as many as 30,000 to 40,000 believers come. Devotees prefer to touch the dragon bed in the side hall to seek children or wealth. Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00.Fotangmen Tin Hau Ancient Temple
