Fuxingmen Overpass derives its name from Fuxing Gate and the adjacent streets of Fuxing Inner and Outer. Initially, during its construction, locals colloquially referred to it as the ‘big bridge’. A depiction of Fuxingmen Overpass can be found in a junior high school Chinese textbook titled ‘Beijing Interchanges’.

The overpass is renowned for its upper deck, which boasts an arch that resembles a rainbow, making it a notable landmark. It remains accessible to the public around the clock, operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
