Fuzhou Fahai Temple was founded in the second year of Kaiyun of the Later Jin Dynasty in the Five Dynasties (945 AD). Initially named “Xingfu Courtyard”, it was renamed to its current name during the Dazhong Xiangfu period of the Song Dynasty (1008 – 1016 AD).
The temple covers an area of 5,900 square meters and consists of the Daxiong Hall, Dharma Hall, Dabei Pavilion and the west side courtyard.


It is now the location of the Buddhist Associations of Fujian Province and Fuzhou City.
