A leisurely small tourist boat is a cherished memory for many Fuzhou citizens when it comes to West Lake Park. Recently, a new experience has been added to the park’s attractions: the painted barge. With its bright yellow roof, spacious windows, and antique-style hull… this describes the West Lake painted barge docked by the Jade Belt Bridge, nestled within the lake. The elongated hull and ornate decorations make it stand out among the surrounding small tourist boats.

The painted barge is a classically decorated and magnificent tourist boat, a ‘Chinese style’ ancient-style boat that combines classical garden architecture, reflecting the classical art of Chinese civilization. The eaves are upturned, and the delicate four-cornered pavilion gradually takes shape, prominently positioned at the bow. While the exterior is antique, the interior is equally impressive. Unlike ordinary tourist boats, the painted barge is furnished with tea tables and rush mats instead of regular benches, with thick mats covering the floor, and a long table with a guzheng in the center, evoking the ancient scholars’ style of sitting and discussing.

Invite family and friends to board the painted barge, listen to guzheng performances, and experience the leisurely elegance of ancient literati cruising on West Lake. The painted barge can accommodate 24-36 people, and the tour is themed around local cultural performances, including Fuzhou Pinghua, ink guzheng show, pipa performance, and tea art demonstrations. In addition, the painted barge offers special teas (Fuzhou specialty jasmine tea, barley tea, etc.
