Gangshan Reservoir is the only medium-sized irrigation reservoir in Chaozhou. This reservoir is located within Lingxi District. It is situated 300 meters upstream of Qiuxi River near Hongshan Mountain and is named after the original mountain village in the reservoir area. The reservoir controls a drainage area of 88 square kilometers and has a total storage capacity of 53.03 million cubic meters. The designed irrigation area is 37,870 mu, and the actual irrigation area is 30,410 mu. The reservoir was built in 1959. The main and branch canals of the reservoir are 46.7 kilometers long. The designed flow rate of the main canal is 4.25 cubic meters per second. The main canal starts from Gangshan Reservoir, runs along the hillside beside Anhuang Highway to Hongshan Farm, passes through the inverted siphon culvert under the highway and connects to the Liucun floating canal. Then, it passes through the Liucun inverted siphon culvert and connects to Licuoshan. Along the hillside, after passing Huangjintang Village, it reaches Jilong Mountain and passes through the Beixi inverted siphon culvert. The canal is 7 kilometers long. The water in the reservoir is extremely cold. The blue waves are rippling. There are also lush forests and tall bamboos, with their reflections in between. Beautiful mountains and clear streams are interspersed within. It is indeed a good place for relaxation and enjoyment.
