Gao Shan Ridge, also known as Pi Ye Mountain, is a provincial nature reserve located 4 kilometers northwest of Lincheng Town in Hainan Province. The name is derived from the Pi Ye Temple that resides on the mountain. This picturesque ridge is celebrated for its diverse rocks, lush forests, and vibrant wildflowers, which exude an air of vitality throughout the year.
Within the ridge, you will find the ever-flowing Qian Jing Lake, Weng Ang Lake, and Ban Jiu Pond. These small, tranquil bodies of water act as mirrors under the sunlight, reflecting the sky and adding a dynamic charm to the landscape. They shine like three pieces of jade inlaid in Gao Shan Ridge.
Historically, the ridge is rich with relics. You can find the ‘Pi Na Sanskrit Stele’, which was erected by an Indian Brahman master during the pre-Han dynasty. There is also the ‘Pi Ye Ling Shi’, a site that emerged when the people of Qingzhou, surnamed Wang, migrated to this mountain during the Han dynasty. Additionally, the Gao Shan Temple was constructed in 1314. These sites offer invaluable physical materials for the study of the history of Hainan Province and Lingao County.
Please note that the opening hours of these historical sites are subject to the daily operating status of the location.
