‘Jade Flow Glow’ is one of the new ten scenic spots of West Lake. It is said that on Baoshi Mountain on the north shore of West Lake, there are many shiny red pebbles. When the sun shines, these pebbles sparkle brightly, and the rosy clouds on the mountain are even more colorful and magnificent. For ordinary tourists, Baoshi Mountain is a relatively niche scenic spot. Quite a few local people in Hangzhou come here to climb mountains and exercise. When coming to Hangzhou but not satisfied with just visiting West Lake, Baoshi Mountain is the best choice. The height of the mountain is no more than 200 meters, and the mountain body is gentle and very suitable for climbing. Generally, it can be completed in about an hour. How to choose a route? There are multiple entrances on Beishan Road, Shuguang Road, and Baochu Road surrounding Baoshi Mountain. You can choose according to your convenience. Among them, the entrance at Qixia Ridge next to Yuewang Temple has a relatively steep mountain road called ‘Four Hundred Steps’. After going up, you can walk on the ridge along the lake. If going from east to west, you can go up from Baoshi Mountain First Alley and go down near Yue Temple. If going from south to north, you can go up near Geling bus stop and go down near Huanglongdong bus stop. The more conventional way is to go from east to west. The mountain roads are not complicated. Just follow the roadside signs. Overlooking West Lake from Baoshi Mountain. If you simply want to see the panoramic view of West Lake, go up from Baoshi Mountain First Alley in the east. Not far away, you can reach the Zhenchun Era Bookstore (formerly the Chuyangtai Teahouse). You can read books and drink tea and take a short break. Continuing up is the landmark building on Baoshi Mountain, the Baoshu Pagoda. Here there are many huge rocks. After passing through the narrow ‘First Line of Sky’, you can see the four characters ‘Jade Flow Glow’ engraved on the stone. Blowing the mountain breeze and enjoying the lake view on the rocks, the view is very broad. On sunny days, this is a good place to enjoy the morning glow and sunset. The photos taken are also very beautiful. If climbing at night, you can overlook the night view of West Lake. Climbing and exploring. If you like climbing mountains, you can continue to go up. At the crossroads ahead, turning left will lead you to the Chuyangtai at the top of the mountain (turning right and going down the mountain can lead to Huanglong Cave scenic area). But here the trees are too thick and block the view of West Lake. It is not a good place for enjoying the scenery. However, Chuyangtai has a two-story pavilion where you can take a short rest. Near the top of the mountain, there is a Baopu Taoist Temple. The Taoist temple is quiet and there is a small teahouse where you can drink tea. Going all the way west is the downhill road. Along the way, you can see scenic spots such as Qixia Cave and Niu Gao’s Tomb. You can worship Buddha and explore secluded places. Then, when you come to Yuewang Temple at the foot of the mountain, you can continue to play along West Lake.
Open all year round and open all day.
