The Genbao Football Base is located at the southern end of Dongping National Forest Park in Chongming. Initiated and established by football coach Xu Genbao, it covers a total area of more than 70 mu and is known as ‘the cradle of football stars and the hope for going global’. The base has three and a half standard football fields, an indoor football field paved with artificial turf imported from Germany, and a football hotel covering an area of 7,000 square meters. With a total investment of about 30 million yuan, it started construction in 2000 and was completed on October 1, 2001. The base has service facilities for tourists to sightsee and relax – the football hotel. The football hotel is a three-story modern glass and steel structure building, which contains economic rooms, standard rooms and suites. There is a high-specification multi-functional banquet hall that can accommodate more than 100 VIPs, a 120-square-meter conference room with complete and perfect facilities and functions, an elegant lobby coffee seat, as well as leisure places such as karaoke, dance halls, chess and card rooms, table tennis rooms, and billiard rooms.
