Exiting the self-driving area, the star of the East African savanna, the giraffe, leaves a deep impression on visitors. To get closer to these beautiful animals, one can move to the Giraffe Plaza, located opposite the Koala Garden. Here, giraffes live with their long eyelashes, bright big eyes, and slender necks. They have slender thighs, truly deserving of the title ‘models of the animal kingdom’.
Apart from their beautiful eyes, giraffes also possess a dexterous tongue that allows them to feed on leaves from thorny acacia trees without hurting their tongues. An adult giraffe can reach a height of up to 6 meters. To supply oxygen to their brains, all giraffes have high blood pressure. If they lower their heads to feed for extended periods, they risk cerebral congestion. Therefore, giraffes prefer to eat leaves high up. To accommodate their habits, the zoo’s fodder is deliberately placed at a height suitable for giraffes.
The zoo is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
