The Glacier Grand Canyon is located in the middle section of the main scenic area road of Tianmu Mountain. The area is abundant with streams and ponds, with waterfalls and rocks connected. Following the canyon stream upwards, within just 200 meters of the canyon stream, nine waterfalls and nine ponds are connected in sequence, which can be described as a spring every three steps, a waterfall every five steps, and a pond every ten steps, presenting a variety of waterfalls, springs, colorful ponds, and mountain stone landscapes. Entering the scenic area, the cascading ‘Welcome Waterfall’ washes away the summer heat, and a cool world comes face to face. Climbing up a hundred steps leads to the ‘Flower Spray Pond’, where the water urgently hits the pebbles in the pond, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere. In the distance, the waterfall is like a curtain, shaking the valley. Continuing upwards is the ‘Ginkgo Leaf Pond’, next to which there is a pavilion, offering a panoramic view of the canyon waterfalls and mountain stones. Further up is the ‘Zhongzi Waterfall’. Along the stone path next to the ‘Zhongzi Waterfall’, through the bamboo forest accompanied by the sound of flowing water, one can enjoy the coolness and breathe fresh air, making it a journey that is both scenic and healthy. On the mountain road next to the ‘Ginkgo Leaf Pond’ is a key scenic spot in the area – the ‘Glacial Stone Waves’. Here, the variously shaped mountain stones are squeezed and piled up, layer upon layer, extending towards the sky. The wild grass and mountain flowers in the stone crevices sway in the wind, as if the huge stones on the entire mountain are surging, forming a rolling stone wave. The Tianmu Mountain area was originally a vast sea. Hundreds of millions of years ago, through folding, fracturing, and volcanic eruptions, the main body of Tianmu Mountain was formed. After the carving of the Quaternary glaciers, it has become today’s Tianmu Mountain with undulating peaks, numerous canyons, strange rocks, and beautiful scenery. The peculiar features of Tianmu Mountain’s Glacier Grand Canyon can be regarded as a mystery in the history of the Earth, and is called ‘a typical ancient glacial relic in the East China region’ by geologist Li Siguang.
