The Guangzhou Gongyuan Historical Exhibition Hall, also known as the Mingyuan Building, is one of the more compact exhibition halls in China. At the center of the exhibition hall, there is a sand model that showcases the scale and layout of the past in a panoramic view.
The Guangzhou Gongyuan during the Qing Dynasty was located on the eastern side of the city, close to the city walls, and served as the venue for the regional imperial examinations in the Guangdong and Guangxi regions. To prevent cheating, candidates were required to live within the examination cells, including answering questions, and their daily routines such as eating and sleeping were all conducted there. This examination model disappeared with the abolition of the imperial examination system at the end of the Qing Dynasty. The opening hours and business status are subject to the actual daily opening conditions.Guangdong Gongyuan Historical Exhibition Hall
