The Guangdong Nanling Nature Reserve is located in the middle section of the Nanling Mountains in northern Guangdong. It spans three counties (cities) of Ruyuan, Yangshan, and Lianzhou in Shaoguan and Qingyuan. Established with the approval of the State Council in 1994, it has a total area of 58,400 hectares. The Nanling Nature Reserve is a forest ecosystem type reserve. The main protection objects are mid-subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests and rare and endangered wild animals and plants and their habitats.
