Guangqi Park was originally the imperial cemetery of Xu Guangqi, a scientist in the late Ming Dynasty. It was built in 1641, the fourteenth year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, and has been maintained in successive dynasties. It was once named Nandan Park. Later, it was renamed in memory of Xu Guangqi. It covers an area of 13,200 square meters. In 2003, the memorial archway, sacred way and tomb were rebuilt according to the tomb system of the Ming Dynasty.
Guangqi Park is now a commemorative garden. To the north of the park is Xu Guangqi’s cemetery. To the west of the park is Xu Guangqi Memorial Hall. The eastern part is a leisure activity area, dotted with several stele corridors, sculptures and remnants related to Xu Guangqi. The whole park is surrounded by winding paths. The trees are lush. Fish play in the lotus pond. The environment is solemn and suitable for rest and admiration.Opening hours: From January 1st to December 31st, open from 05:00 to 21:00.
