Located within Guangzhou Zoo at No. 120 Xianlie Middle Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, the Guangzhou Aquarium has been open to the public since January 1998. It is one of the first marine aquariums to operate in China and has been honored with titles such as ‘Guangdong Province Youth Science and Technology Education Base’ and ‘National Science Popularization Education Base’. In June 2024, Guangzhou Urban Investment Group completed the upgrade and renovation of the facility equipment, and the Guangzhou Aquarium was reopened with a fresh look, managed by Guangzhou Ocean Aquarium Operation Management Co.

It is composed of four major themed areas: Rainforest Exploration, Fantasy Realm, Future Sea, and Elf Bay, making it a multifunctional oceanarium that integrates display, appreciation, popular science, and education. The aquarium showcases over 300 species of marine life, with nearly ten thousand marine fish.
