Performance Lineup: Fabian Willmann Saxophone
From 2011 to 2015, Fabian Willmann (born in 1992) studied jazz saxophone under Professor Domenic Landolf at the Basel Music Academy and pursued musicology at the Albert-Ludwig University in Freiburg as a scholarship recipient of the German National Academic Foundation. From 2015 to 2016, he continued his saxophone studies at New York University with a DAAD scholarship, following Mark Turner, Joe Lovano, and Chris Potter, and completed his master’s degree at Jazzcampus in Basel in 2017. He is a member of several ensembles, including ‘Sarah Chaksad Large Ensembles’ and bands ‘Monoglot’, ‘Minua’, and ‘Mega Mass’. He has been active in numerous concerts across Europe and the United States, with performances in China, Nepal, Uganda, South Africa, South Korea, and Japan. Théo Duboule Guitar Swiss jazz guitarist Théo Duboule, a long-term resident in Berlin, Germany, is an emerging star in the European jazz scene. He has been reported by mainstream European jazz media ‘Jazz-Rhone-Alpes’ as having ‘extremely subtle and beautiful playing with a rich sound’, and ‘Action Jazz’ magazine described his latest album as ‘simply a miracle of European jazz’. Theo Duboule graduated in jazz performance from the Lausanne Music Academy in Switzerland in 2016, studying under renowned jazz musicians Wolfgang Muthspiel, Mark Turner, and Larry Grenadier. After graduation, he has been active on the European jazz scene in Switzerland, France, Germany, and other locations, forming original bands including OGGY & the Phonics, the BIG TUSK, Theo Duboule Quartet and Trio, In Motion, 3G Trio, and the electronic jazz project Mr Wizzel, which focuses on solo performances.Frequently appearing on jazz stages in Switzerland and a regular guest at international jazz festivals, including frequent tours at jazz festivals in France, Hungary, Germany, and South Africa. In 2013, he was selected by the renowned Swiss composer and arranger Ohad Talmor for the DKSJ project and big band tour, and in 2014, his Infinite Octet was once again selected for the DKSJ project tour. In 2016, he participated in the world-famous Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition and advanced to the semifinals with outstanding performance. In 2017, he led his original band ‘OGGY & the Phonics’ to win the Jazz Contrebande competition at the famous jazz club Sunset/Sunside in Paris, France, and was described by Dom Imonk jazz magazine as ‘the jazz anomaly of the century’ for his innovative original music. To date, he has released four solo original jazz band albums. Quentin Cholet Drums Quentin Cholet, born in France, grew up in an artistic family and was trained at various schools under teachers such as Nicolas Martynciow, Stephane Payen, and Simon Goubert, before moving to Berlin, where he entered the Berlin Jazz Institute to study under John Hollenbeck. Since then, he has been based in Germany, performing at many clubs in Berlin and having the opportunity to tour China and South Korea multiple times with the Miss Kiss band. His current two projects include the Berlin trio Mega Mass and Farmaporn. His first album as a leader will be released in 2024.
