Guangzhou No. 13 Theatre is located within the Guangzhou Drama Art Center (Guangzhou Drama Troupe). Renovated at the end of 2008, after a year of decoration and transformation, No. 13 Theatre has become a fully equipped, formal theatre with a seating capacity of 393. Upon its re-opening, Guangzhou Drama Troupe is fully committed to the concept of ‘creating a boutique store for Guangzhou’s fine dramas’, launching the ‘Weekend Theatre’ performance brand.
This means that every Friday and Saturday, audiences can enjoy a variety of performances with different styles and themes. In terms of剧目 selection, the focus is on dramas that are appreciated by both refined and popular tastes, well-received by the general public, and possess a certain artistic quality. These include multi-element experimental dramas like ‘Empty City’, urban emotional dramas such as ‘Talking to My Ex-Wife’, bar comedies like ‘Encounter’, historical dramas ‘King of Nanyue’, and emotional topic dramas reflecting current life situations such as ‘Painted Skin’. The ‘Weekend Theatre’ uses the charm of drama art to provide a venue for busy urbanites to de-stress, entertain, and experience life through art. In addition to performing a large number of dramas of various styles created by the troupe itself, it also serves as a platform for drama exchanges, allowing dramas from all over the country and abroad to be showcased on this stage, striving to make No. 13 Theatre a blooming base for high-quality drama performances.
