The building where the Guangzhou Postal Expo Museum is located was completed in 1916. It has successively served as the office building of Guangdong Postal Administration Bureau, Guangzhou Post Office of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and Guangzhou Post Bureau. In August 2002, it was announced as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit. It is a comprehensive expo museum integrating exhibition, collection and sales functions, and a window to display the evolution history and philatelic culture. The exhibition area of the expo museum is nearly 1500 square meters and there are three exhibition halls. The first floor is a philatelic sales and exhibition center: displaying rare philatelic items and selling various philatelic products. The exhibition hall on the second floor: displays China’s long history of postal communication development and the historical changes of Guangzhou postal service with Lingnan characteristics, reflecting the development history of ancient postal communication, modern postal service and people’s postal service before China’s reform and opening up. The exhibition hall on the third floor: displays the development process and future prospects of Guangzhou postal service after reform and opening up. Shows the brilliant achievements of Guangzhou postal service development since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, especially in the 21st century, the new achievements in the development of postal communication technology, and looks forward to the future prospects of Guangzhou postal service. Visitors can not only understand and recognize the changes and development of postal history, handle postal and philatelic services, and purchase philatelic products, but also appreciate the unique architectural art. Now, the expo museum occasionally holds stamp exhibitions on the second and third floors. Usually, the second and third floors are rarely open to the public. This building has suffered two disasters in a hundred years, but it can still radiate strong vitality today, which cannot but arouse people’s respect. The building is a typical European-style building. The tawny granite cornerstone and huge colonnades are slightly mottled, very imposing and full of historical sense. At present, it has been listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. Together with the expo museum, it has become a living fossil showing the development history of Guangzhou postal service and philatelic culture.
