The ‘Purple Stone Elegance’ – Duan inkstone art exhibition covers an area of more than 600 square meters and exhibits nearly 200 pieces of Duan inkstones from the collection. As an extension of the content, inkstones of other material categories, Duan stone materials, and stationery utensils are also on display. The exhibition revolves around three themes: historical value, artistic value, and cultural connotation. It is presented in a simple and easy-to-understand way with popular narration, striving to attract a certain degree of attention and interest from the audience towards Duan inkstones and inkstone culture. The exhibition content is divided into four parts. First part: Tracing back to the inkstone forest. Second part: Pure and beautiful stone quality. Third part: Extraordinary craftsmanship. Fourth part: Inscribing poems and inscriptions. More than 50 Duan inkstones engraved with inscriptions from the Ming and Qing dynasties are displayed to showcase the deeper cultural connotation of inkstones. Inkstones were good friends for writing in ancient times. Scholars of all dynasties took Duan inkstones as the carrier, inscribed poems and inscriptions, and expressed their aspirations through chanting objects. The specific business hours and operating status are subject to the opening situation on that day.
