Guangzhou Zoo, located in the eastern section of Xianlie Middle Road, was established in 1958 and is renowned as one of the three major city zoos in China, alongside Beijing Zoo and Shanghai Zoo. It is an ideal destination for family outings, offering children the opportunity to learn about small animals and explore the aquarium and amusement park. Here, visitors can see rare animals such as the national treasure giant panda, golden snub-nosed monkey, South China tiger, Pere David’s deer, and black-necked crane, as well as animals from around the world like hippos, rhinos, and African elephants.
In addition to the animal exhibits, the zoo features the Guangzhou Aquarium, Butterfly Pavilion, Jinlin Garden (where visitors can see goldfish), an amusement park with small rides such as carousels, bumper cars, and log flumes, a petting zoo, and a peculiar stone museum. The petting zoo is particularly suitable for children, allowing them to get up close and personal with animals like llamas and sheep.
Moreover, within the zoo, keepers feed animals such as hippos, elephants, and pelicans at fixed times each day, which interested visitors can watch. The zoo is open year-round from 08:00 to 18:00.

Disabled individuals with valid identification and severely disabled individuals, including blind, intellectually disabled, and double lower limb disabled individuals, are allowed one accompanying person who can enter for free. Designated care recipients confirmed by civil affairs departments, including low-income assistance recipients, five-guarantee households, and local registered preferential treatment recipients, enter for free with valid identification. For seniors aged 65 and above who require wheelchair access, one accompanying person can purchase a half-price ticket.
