Guanzong Lecture Temple is located in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It was originally named ‘Shi Liu Guan Hall’ and was founded by Jianran, the fifth-generation descendant of Si Ming Li, during the Yuanfeng years of the Song Dynasty (1078-1085). The hall was built in the northeast corner of Yanqing Temple, which it was originally affiliated with. During the Qianlong and Jiaqing years of the Qing Dynasty (1736-1820), it was rebuilt and began to operate independently, with its own abbot. In 1912, the renowned Tiantai Buddhist monk, Dixian, took office as the abbot, and the temple was renamed ‘Guanzong Lecture Temple’. The temple complex includes a meditation hall, a guest hall, a recitation hall, a precept study hall, a research society, and a Dharma propagation society, truly making it a place that emphasizes both understanding and practice. The temple is open all year round from Monday to Saturday, 04:30-11:50 and 13:30-16:30; it is closed on Sundays. Please note that the specific business status is subject to the temple’s daily opening hours.
