Guhua Park is located at No. 220 Jiefang Middle Road, Nanqiao Central Urban Area, Fengxian District, covering an area of over 100,000 square meters. It was designed by the renowned architect Professor Chen Congzhou, who integrated the essence of Jiangnan gardens, and officially opened to visitors in 1984.
The park features a unique design, with pavilions, platforms, towers, and pavilions densely distributed among small bridges and flowing water, interspersed with flowers, plants, and trees, forming a style with characteristics of the Qingming architecture period, giving people an image of simplicity, elegance, tranquility, comfort, and completeness. Guhua Park’s construction draws on many historical allusions from Fengxian’s history. The ‘San Nü Ci’ is a replica building based on the historical event of ‘Wu Yue Contention’, where King Goujian of Yue led his troops to approach Suzhou, and King Wu of Wu ordered his three daughters to flee south. Fearing capture by the Yue army, they committed suicide by hanging themselves in the area two miles north of Nanqiao Town in Fengxian. The relocation and reconstruction of a large number of historical buildings with a long history, such as the ‘First Bridge of Nantang’ and ‘Xingyuan’, have made Guhua Park display a simple and elegant historical and cultural style. Opening hours: October 1st to June 30th from 09:00 to 17:00; July 1st to September 30th from 05:00 to 20:00.
