Gulang Village, a part of Shunde District in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northwest of the central urban area of Xingtan Town. The village is rich in historical sites and is known for its ‘Three Passes’, ‘Six Stockades’, and ‘Five Arched Bridges’, as well as two ancient archways and one tomb of Huang Xiaoyang.
Gulang Village is well-known for the saying ‘The waters of the West River reach Gulang first’, with its crisscrossing waterways and numerous ancient bridges. The village was established at the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, with a peak population of over ten thousand during its heyday. Over the centuries, most of the ‘Eight Scenic Spots of Gulang’ – Qingyun Qi Feng, Xihe Bathing, Shaxi Divergence, Flying Boat Leading the Dragon, Twin Pine at the Corner, Blue Waves Linglong, Kua Ao Reflecting the Moon, and Yong’an Furong – are still preserved today.Must Read
