Gulangyu Island is a serene and picturesque isle that has become the veritable tourism card of Xiamen due to its unique scenery. The island boasts attractions such as Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, and the Organ Museum. From atop Sunlight Rock, one can overlook the entire island and take in the panoramic views.
In addition to these, Gulangyu Island features a variety of architectural styles, including the Minnan-style Hai Tian Tang Ju, the Sino-Western fusion Bagua Building, and 19th-century European-style consulates, earning it the moniker of ‘Exposition of International Architecture.’ The island is also home to many boutique shops with artistic decor, making it an ideal spot for photography.
The island is open all year round, with full-day access. (1) Daytime routes: The incoming flights operate from 8:10 to 17:30, with boats departing every hour at 10 and 30 minutes past the hour; outgoing flights operate from 7:40 to 17:40, with boats departing at every hour and 40 minutes past the hour. (2) Night routes: The Sanqiutian Wharf outgoing flights operate from 18:00 to 24:00. From 00:00 to 5:00, visitors needing to leave the island should return from the Piano Wharf to the Ferry Wharf (boats depart on the hour); from 5:30 to 7:00, return from Sanqiutian Wharf to the Ferry Wharf (flight schedules remain unchanged, please refer to the official ferry company website for details). (3) Any additional routes or adjustments to flight schedules will be based on notifications from the official ferry company website.
Concessions are available for minors: individuals aged 6 (excluding) to 18 (including) with valid identification receive half-price tickets; for the elderly: individuals aged 60 (including) to 70 (excluding) receive half-price tickets with valid identification, and those aged 70 (including) and above enter for free with valid identification; for youth from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan: with valid travel documents, receive half-price tickets; for the disabled: with a Disability Certificate or a Disabled Soldier’s Certificate, enter for free; for full-time university undergraduates and below: with a valid student ID, receive half-price tickets; for military personnel, firefighters, and police: with valid identification, enter for free; for children: those aged 6 (including) and under or with a height of 1.2 meters (including) and under enter for free.
Additional note: Concessions are only applicable to the five major attractions of Gulangyu Island: the International Calligraphy Art Museum, Sunlight Rock, Haoyue Garden, Organ Museum, and Shuzhuang Garden.
Service facilities include parking lots: [Cruise Center Gulangyu Wharf Parking Lot] with a reference price of ¥3 per half hour; located next to the Gulangyu Cruise Center; with 516 spots; the first 30 minutes of parking (including) are free, except for the second entry on the same day in the same parking lot; after 30 minutes, it’s ¥3 every 30 minutes; a continuous 24-hour parking fee (including) is ¥50.
Island transportation: the reference price for the Gulangyu sightseeing bus island route is ¥50 per person, with interval lines priced differently based on station distances, ranging from ¥20 to ¥40.
Restrooms: there are multiple restrooms on the island, located near the island entrance and main roads, with clear signs.
Smoking area: Location: Smoking is allowed except in indoor scenic spots.
Catering: There are many farmhouses and restaurants in the scenic area, with obvious signs. Alipay/WeChat payment is available.
Souvenir shops: There are many shops on the island that sell souvenirs.
Vending machines: There are multiple vending machines in the scenic area, located near the main roads and next to Xiamen Underwater World and other venues. Alipay/WeChat payment is available.
Convenience stores: There are multiple convenience stores on the island, located near Xiamen Underwater World and on various main roads.
