Haidao Jinshan Temple is located in the west of Fenshuitang Village, Qingyun County, Shandong Province, and has existed since the Sui Dynasty. In 2003, Qi Shuping, a resident from Dongtianmu Mountain in Hangzhou, raised a large amount of funds to restore and rebuild this famous temple, Haidao Jinshan Temple. The newly constructed Haidao Jinshan Temple is situated to the north of the county town, on the south side of the North Ring Road, covering an area of over 300 acres.
The temple is arranged with the mountain gate, Mahavira Hall, Sutra Pavilion, and Ancient Buddha Temple along the central axis, and the Buddha Recitation Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Abbot’s Building, and VIP Building are distributed on both sides. The temple buildings feature eaves and brackets, painted beams and carved rafters, which are breathtaking. Inside the halls, there are numerous Buddhas, the Qianlong edition of the ‘Great Canon’, the ‘Essentials of the Four Treasuries’, ancient Buddhas, ancient steles, and many other historical relics that are treasures of the temple.
Within the temple, the morning bells and evening drums, the chanting of scriptures and Buddhist names, and the curling incense smoke draw a constant stream of visitors and worshippers; outside the temple, the murmuring river, the green fields, and the beautiful scenery are all pleasing to the eye. The huge bronze bell can be heard for several miles around, which is astonishing; the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, over 8 meters tall, is one of the largest indoor Sakyamuni Buddha statues in the country, and it is admired by all the visitors.
