Located in the ‘Three Style Blocks’ of Haihua Island’s No.1 Island, the Haihua Island Exotic Botanical Garden spans an area of approximately 74,000 square meters, integrating rare plant appreciation, flower exhibitions, thematic activities, and scientific education. The garden is divided into ‘five zones and one hall’, which are the main entrance area, flower field and sea area, shade plants area, artificial mountain and waterfall area, exotic flowers and fruits area, and the botanical rareties hall.
The main entrance area is equipped with thematic catering and souvenir shops. The botanical garden currently has over 200 types of plants, including more than 40 exotic and special plants such as the Maitreya Buddha tree, rubber banyan, tree pineapple, and elephant leg tree, gathering tropical exotic plants from around the world. Strolling through the garden, one can experience a new scene and lighting with each step.
The vertical greening of the main entrance area of the botanical garden mainly features plants like duckfoot wood, asparagus fern, golden false jasmine, kidney fern, and golden banyan, symbolizing a welcome and smooth sailing.
The flower field and sea area mainly consists of terraced flower fields and large flower fields, currently growing a lot of cosmos flowers. The flower sea landscape includes colorful grass, red grass, wolftail grass, and pink muhly; special flower plants include perfume acacia, yellow sophora, pink mountain bean, yellow hibiscus, fiddle leaf coral tree, cockscomb coral tree, and frangipani.
The exotic flowers and fruits area features a mushroom paradise with mushroom sculptures, where children can participate in adventure, puzzle-solving, interactive, and parent-child themed activities; the vegetation includes earth aloeswood, ‘Maitreya Buddha tree’, iron watermelon, tree houses, plank roads, fig trees, dragon boat flowers, fire flowers, thousand-layer bananas, and elephant leg wood.
The artificial mountain and waterfall area is a specially created place for cooling and resting in the botanical garden, with a pavilion on the mountain top, which is the highest point of the garden. Resting here, one can enjoy the breeze carrying the faint fragrance of the flower sea, with a panoramic view of the garden’s beautiful scenery.
The shade plants area is designed in a semi-embedded style, with the rooftop garden blending with the surrounding environment, and hollowed-out skylights adding natural light to the interior, forming a two-story space connected by aerial plank roads. The first floor features characteristic green islands and flower borders, as well as various shade plants. Standing on the second-floor viewing plank road, one can also overlook and enjoy the three-dimensional flower sea and artificial mountain scenery on the opposite side. Such beautiful scenery surpasses countless other places.
The garden is open all year round from 09:00 to 18:00. The botanical rareties hall is not yet open.
