Haizhu Bridge, constructed in 1933, spans a total length of 356.67 meters, with the main bridge section measuring 182.90 meters. It features symmetrical arrangements on the north and south sides, originally designed as a three-span lower chord simple supported steel truss bridge. The bridge was designed to carry the load of two rows of 10-ton trucks, with the central span being a lifting structure that can be separated upwards to allow passage for large vessels.

Haizhu Bridge is a steel bridge and a river-crossing bridge in Guangzhou, designed by German engineers, constructed by an American company, and utilizing British steel materials. It officially opened to traffic in February 1933 and has since undergone two periods of destruction and reconstruction, as well as a reinforcement project in 1995.

On February 28, 2012, the 79-year-old Haizhu Bridge in Guangzhou began a major overhaul, with a planned duration of 18 months, marking one of the most significant bridge maintenance projects in the history of Guangzhou. The bridge is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
