Haizhu National Wetland Park is located in the southern part of Guangzhou’s new central axis, acclaimed as the ‘Green Heart of Guangzhou’. It is the first national wetland park in Guangzhou and a key construction wetland park at the national level. The park is a typical composite wetland system of delta urban lakes and river wetlands, with a crisscrossing network of rivers and abundant wetland resources, including urban lake wetlands, riverbank wetlands, ditch wetlands, and a mosaic composite wetland of ditches and semi-natural fruit forests.
Haizhu Wetland plays an extremely important role in regulating the urban climate of Guangzhou, purifying urban air, controlling urban water bodies, and improving the urban ecological environment. It is hailed as the ‘Green Heart of Guangzhou’ and the guardian of Guangzhou’s ecology, and is known together with ‘North Lung’ Baiyun Mountain as the two major ecological barriers in the central urban area of Guangzhou.
The Haizhu Wetland is divided into three major areas. The Haizhu Lake section is a large ecological project combined with water conservancy projects. The first phase of the wetland is the core area combining wetland scenery with Lingnan water town culture, where you can see characteristic Lingnan archways and wok-ear houses. The second phase of the wetland focuses on the original ecological natural charm, creating a bird paradise based on the original fruit orchards.
