The Hanbai Lianli is said to have been planted by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. It has a history of more than 2,000 years. It is called ‘Hanbai Lianli’ and also known as ‘Lianli Bai’. Originally, it was a double-trunked connected tree, growing from the same root. In 1928, Sun Liangcheng’s troops were stationed in Tai’an, and the Dai Temple became his military headquarters. One of his soldiers, out of personal resentment, set it on fire, resulting in the withering and death of the western trunk, while the eastern trunk survived.
