**About Hangzhou Drum Tower:**
‘The southeast is a place of strategic importance, a gathering of the three Wu cities, and Qiantang has been prosperous since ancient times.’ The Hangzhou Drum Tower is located on the east side of Wushan in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, connecting to Shiwukui Alley in the south, Dajing Alley in the north, Zhonghe Road in the east, and Wugong Mountain in the west. Originally a coastal enemy tower, it was built during the Southern Dynasty of the Five Dynasties period and has been repeatedly damaged by war. It was rebuilt in the 40th year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1561) and was later demolished during the ten years of turmoil. In 2002, the People’s Government of Hangzhou completed the reconstruction of Hangzhou Drum Tower, adopting the style of a five-bay, double-eave hip-roof structure, which is the form of a Ming Dynasty drum tower. The reconstructed Drum Tower now echoes with the City God Pavilion on the west side of Wushan.
