Huang Wangfu is an artist who is quite active on social media. For him, social media is less about the content it carries and more about the subconscious perceptual changes it continuously brings to people. One manifestation of this is the invisible dependence on advertising. Without it, individuals would feel frustrated when faced with empty screens and walls, not only because they lose the opportunity for games and dreams (even if they are fake), but also because they deeply feel neglected by ‘others.’ New commercial demands have emerged, bringing subtle implications that allow the objects we see to be magnified, minimized, folded, and stretched at any time. These physical changes are not intentional, but are to cope with the subtle psychological needs and implications in the advertising environment that seem to change but actually remain the same. This subtle strategy is a compensation for fleeting happiness and a voluntary adaptation to limited space. The spray gun is the main painting tool used by Huang Wangfu, which makes the required commercial aesthetic美感 clear and direct. Humor and relaxed posture are the only weapons the artist holds in the face of unreachable advertising aesthetics. Under this, objects are psychologically integrated, turning into a forgotten pomegranate seed (although it is necessary to tightly unite the pomegranate seeds), a cut banana peel, or a tightly pulled curtain… Open from December 7th to February 28th, with specific business hours subject to daily opening conditions.
