Living together in time, our lives intertwine; loving each other through the ages, an endless journey; enduring hardships across the timeline, we always meet; missing each other in the future, never retreating. Over six years, each of us has experienced different scenes, strolling along the coastline, watching the sea together, from the first light of dawn to the setting sun, feeling the passage of time with the ebb and flow of the tides. Everyone has their own way of responding to life, one can either exile oneself in the universe or choose a place to settle down. Please accept this belated invitation; after six years, we look forward to meeting you again to watch the sea together. After listening to the new EP released two weeks ago, are you eager to embark on a journey to the tour venue? Hello Nico’s ‘Let’s Watch the Sea’ ten-city tour is about to begin!

Hello Nico, formed in Taipei in 2013, consists of members from diverse backgrounds with a musical style that encompasses pop, electronic, and rock. Their music is characterized by its suppressed and self-indulgent nature, quietly singing about human emotions and hurts amidst the feedback noise of guitars and the arrangement of synthesized sounds, observing the inevitable contradictions and struggles in urban life. Since its establishment in 2013, the band has brought astonishing creative energy, sparking discussions online with mature arrangements and abundant creations. Their representative works, ‘Desolation’ and ‘Flower’, have won the top of the charts for several weeks. At the end of 2013, they were selected as one of Taiwan’s ‘Top Ten New Bands’ and are widely recognized as the most eye-catching supernova band in Taiwan. In 2014, they released their first EP ‘Floating City’, which was highly recommended by well-known musicians like Chen Jianqi and singers like Wei Ruoxuan. With ‘Floating City’, Hello Nico won two major awards at the 8th ‘Freshmusic Awards’: ‘Best EP of the Year’ and ‘Top Ten Singles of the Year (Our Suffering Circus Troupe)’. In 2015, they released their first album ‘Familiar Desolation’ and went on a tour. The first batch of physical records was sold exclusively at the tour venues and was sold out before they were officially available in record stores. The band was then invited to perform in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, achieving unprecedented success. In the second half of the year, they held an eleven-stop tour, with all four performances in the Pearl River Delta region, including Hong Kong, Macau, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen, as well as the Shanghai concert, all sold out. The band later announced that they would return to Taiwan in January 2016 for four exclusive performances in the north, central, and south, all of which were sold out within a minute of ticket sales going public. In December 2015, at the 5th Abilu Music Awards held by the authoritative music platform ‘Douban’, Hello Nico was nominated for the ‘Best Newcomer’ award.

In May 2016, Hello Nico was nominated for the 27th Golden Melody Awards for Best New Artist with their album ‘Familiar Desolation’ and won Best New Group at the 9th Freshmusic Awards. In July 2016, they released the EP ‘Close Your Eyes’ and embarked on a three-city concert tour in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, which quickly sold out. The band then went on a 12-city tour in Mainland China and held solo concerts in Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan for the first time. In early 2017, the EP ‘Close Your Eyes’ was nominated for Best EP at the 10th Singapore Freshmusic Awards and won the Annual Rock Musician award at the 6th Abilu Music Awards. Hello Nico was invited to perform at the renowned American music festival SXSW in Texas and later in the year, they performed at the TIMM Music Festival in Tokyo and were invited to the Clockenflap Music Festival in Hong Kong. In February 2018, they released a remixed single ‘You Are the Erased Landscape (tour mix)’, followed by two new singles ‘Dust of Light’ and ‘Dear Self’, and held a tour titled ‘Slowly, But Far’. In September 2024, they released a new EP ‘Plan B: If We Come Back, Let’s Watch the Sea Together’. This EP encapsulates the emotional energy and growth changes of the band members over the years. It not only presents a new face of Hello Nico but also maintains the musical power that has captivated listeners for more than a decade. As night falls and the stars dot the sea, we huddle together, quietly appreciating the tranquility and beauty. The sea breeze gently blows, taking away the noise and fatigue of the day, leaving only peace and tranquility within. With a smile at each other, no words are needed, as we both understand the value of this tacit understanding and companionship. I think I still lack the courage to tell you directly that I am depleted, I am unable to bloom. Your radiance shines in places even you cannot see, going forward, returning, searching, retreating. There is no place that is your responsibility. You were born to be loved, and love itself is the cure when love’s suffering waits for no antidote. If we come back, let’s watch the sea. The full text is open for registration starting on December 21st, Saturday, at 20:00, lasting approximately 90 minutes (subject to the actual event).
