Mr. Cao Qiyuan, a prominent figure from Hangzhou currently residing in Hong Kong, and his wife, Ms. Cao Luo Bijin, are passionate collectors with a particular fondness for lacquer art. They have a deep affection for their hometown and have generously donated their private collection to the public, making it accessible to all. They have donated a total of 162 pieces (sets) of lacquerware from various dynasties to the Zhejiang Museum without any compensation, enriching the cultural heritage and benefiting the public. These precious lacquerwares are rare treasures of human culture and reflect their profound love for their country and family. The Caos believe in sharing joy with others rather than keeping it to themselves, and their initial intention was to let the world appreciate these artistic treasures. The exhibition, themed around the beauty of lacquerware, showcases the beauty of ancient Chinese lacquerware through its color, shape, and decoration. This special exhibition is dedicated to expressing our heartfelt gratitude and highest respect to Mr. and Mrs. Cao Qiyuan. The exhibition opens on August 29th, with specific operational status subject to the day’s opening conditions.
