Yudai Bridge is a beloved structure among the six bridges on the West Causeway in Hangzhou’s West Lake Scenic Area. It is a high-arch stone bridge on the West Causeway and served as the passage for Emperor Qianlong to travel from Kunming Lake to Yuquan Mountain by boat. The bridge is constructed with white marble and blue-white stone.
On the pure white bridge railings and pillars, various cranes are carved, flying towards the clouds. The carvings are exquisite and vivid, showcasing the artistic skills of the craftsmen. The high and thin arch of Yudai Bridge resembles a jade belt, with smooth, curved lines. The semi-circular bridge aperture and its reflection in the water form a transparent full moon, with the reflections of the bridge railings and pillars interlacing around it, floating and rippling on the surface of the water like a wrinkled satin, creating a very moving scene. It is one of the famous structures in the Summer Palace. It is open all year round and available 24 hours a day.Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area – Yudai Bridge
