The China National Silk Museum is located by the West Lake in Hangzhou. It is a national silk professional museum and the largest silk museum in the world. As a provincial-level deputy department-level institution in Zhejiang Province, it covers an area of five hectares, with a building area of 8,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 3,000 square meters. The museum was officially opened to the public on February 26, 1992. Former leader Jiang Zemin inscribed for this museum: ‘Carry forward the ancient silk culture and open up a new Silk Road.’ The China National Silk Museum showcases China’s 5,000-year silk history and culture. Its basic exhibitions include five parts: the foyer, the historical relics hall, the silk hall, the dyeing and weaving hall, and the modern achievements hall.

Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 09:00 to 16:30; closed all day on Monday all year round.
