Hanshan Lake is named after Han Shanzi who once wandered here. It is 32 kilometers east of Tiantai County. The scenic area covers an area of 8.9 square kilometers, and the lake surface is 9,600 mu, six times that of the West Lake. There are 37 bays and 9 islands. The scenery is picturesque. It is a rare large-scale water activity area in the Tiantai Mountain Scenic Area. The lake is rippling with blue waves, and the mountains are like indigo. The mountains and waters here are inhabited by many migratory birds under international joint protection and rare animals and birds under national first-class protection. Here, the mountains and waters are green all year round. You can go boating on the lake. Surrounded by mountains and water, the waves are glittering and the scenery is infinite. The main buildings in the lake area are the barrage dam, the water conveyance and power generation tunnel and the power station. The double-curved arch dam is 74.3 meters high and 266 meters long. It lies between the two mountains like a giant dragon, locking the vast expanse of blue waves upstream. Whenever the water is released, eight silver dragons fall from the sky. The thunder is roaring and the snow is surging, which is extremely spectacular. The peaks around the lake undulate. The bamboo is green and the forest is lush. There are birds singing and flowers fragrant. Lufeng on the north bank is named after Ge Xuan, a high Taoist in the late Han Dynasty, who planted reeds here. There is a stalagmite on Shimenling on the south bank. It has been struck by lightning and is called ‘Tian Da Yan’. Its shape is somewhat similar to that of Goddess Peak in Wushan.
Opening hours: Open all day all year round. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
