Hanshan, also known as Han Mountain and Han Mountain, is located in Hanshan Village, Shanlian Town, Huzhou City. It stands at only 60 meters high and covers an area of less than a hundred acres. The geographical location of Hanshan is unique, as it is at the junction of Nanxun, Tongxiang, and Deqing counties. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal winds its way around Hanshan. The Hanshan Tower on the mountaintop, built during the Northern Song Dynasty’s Yuanyou period, is also known as the Brush Tower due to its proximity to Dongsanzhuang, part of the birthplace of Huzhou brushes. From 1993 to 1998, the Silkworm Flower Palace and Jingci Temple were reconstructed, and new attractions such as the Silk Museum, Hanshan Legend Amusement Palace, and Water Viewing Platform were built. The ancient scenery of the Immortal Pond was restored, and infrastructure was improved. Every year during the Qingming Festival, tens of thousands of silkworm farmers from surrounding areas gather at Hanshan to celebrate the Silkworm Flower Festival, which has become one of the important cultural festivals in Huzhou’s silk culture. There is a local legend about the ‘Silk Flower Goddess and the White Horse Living in Jinyin Mountain’. The area has a very grand custom of ‘pressing silk flowers’. The scenic area is open all year round from 09:00 to 17:00.
