Haoyue Garden – A Memorial to National Hero Zheng Chenggong

Haoyue Garden is a statue garden in memory of the national hero Zheng Chenggong. Here, the Ming-style buildings contrast harmoniously with the sea view and mountain scenery.
The giant granite statue of Zheng Chenggong stands on Fuding Rock, standing in a tripod formation with Jianshi Rock and Yindou Rock in the sea.

Haoyue Garden was established to commemorate Zheng Chenggong’s historical contribution of expelling the Dutch invaders and reclaiming Taiwan, China.

In the square of the garden stands a large-scale group sculpture named “Repelling the Enemies with Rattan Shields”, vividly reproducing the spectacular scene of Zheng Chenggong leading a large army to Taiwan to drive out the Dutch and restore the territory.

There are also the South Stele Corridor and the North Stele Corridor with Zheng Chenggong as the theme content. They reproduce Zheng Chenggong’s heroic spirit in different forms and from different angles.

Its name is taken from the two characters “Haoyue” in Zheng Chenggong’s poem “Missing you, I can’t fall asleep. The bright moon shines through the plain curtain”, expressing the memory of the hero and the longing for Taiwanese compatriots.
