Haoyue Garden is a commemorative statue garden dedicated to the national hero Zheng Chenggong, where Ming Dynasty-style architecture complements the scenic coastal and mountain views. The colossal granite statue of Zheng Chenggong stands on the Fu Ding Rock, in a tripod stance with the Sword Stone and Yin Dou Stone in the sea. The garden was established to honor Zheng Chenggong’s historical achievement of expelling Dutch invaders and reclaiming Taiwan for China.
Inside the garden, a large group sculpture named ‘Rattan Shield Expelling the Foe’ is erected in the square, vividly recreating the magnificent scene of Zheng Chenggong leading thousands of troops to drive out the Dutch and reclaim Taiwan. Additionally, the South and North Stele Corridors, themed around Zheng Chenggong, showcase his heroic demeanor from various perspectives and in different forms. The name ‘Haoyue’ is derived from the phrase ‘bright moon shines through the plain curtain’ in Zheng Chenggong’s poem, expressing remembrance for the hero and longing for compatriots in Taiwan.
