Have you ever heard that one can grow watermelons in their stomach? We also say that in Hong Kong. Huang has been living in an environment where her native language is not spoken in recent years, akin to a child learning and exploring the world anew. The constant switching of language, culture, and geography sometimes leaves her lost and speechless. Yet, even in a non-native or native language environment, she feels a sense of distance in various shapes, which makes her quiet, with purer feelings, observations, and listening.
The world in front of her eyes is sometimes so narrow that it seems to be only where she stands, and at other times, it is boundless. Mei-Hsien Huang, currently residing in Hong Kong and Sapporo, graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University, focusing on painting and printmaking. She records unforgettable details from daily life and transforms them into narrative works or orderly scenes. The exhibition is open from November 8th to December 1st, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.Must Read
