Heiwan Stockaded Village is located in Houxi Town, Youyang County, Chongqing. It is known as a beautiful Tujia stockaded village. It is named because the Youshui River, the mother river of the Tujia people, flows meanderingly within its territory. Heiwan Stockaded Village was built in 1370, that is, in the third year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty. It covers an area of 15.5 square kilometers and is a gathering place of ethnic minority tribes mainly composed of Tujia and Miao nationalities.

It has a history of more than 600 years. There are more than 150 households and more than 600 people in the whole stockaded village, mainly surnamed Bai among the Tujia people. The stockaded village is built close to the mountains and by the water, with a stepped layout, distinct levels, and an orderly arrangement. There are towering ancient trees and green bamboos in the stockaded village. The buildings in the stockaded village are Tujia stilted buildings with unique features of horse-walking and corner-turning.

Behind the stockaded village are terraced fields layer upon layer. The natural environment is beautiful. The terrain of the whole village is mainly shallow hills. The climate in the stockaded village is mild and there is abundant rainfall. The forest coverage rate reaches 42%. The average altitude is 350 meters. To the north is Sanwu Mountain, and to the south is Shidi Town in Xiushan. It is located in the heart of the national wetland park of the Youshui River.

There is the beautiful scenery of a ten-mile-long deep pool. The folk customs are simple and the folk culture atmosphere is strong. It is one of the places where tourists are intoxicated, painters paint and photographers often go. The hand-waving hall in Heiwan Stockaded Village was built by the Peng family of Tujia people in the first year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the relatively well-preserved hand-waving halls in southeastern Chongqing.

Outside the hand-waving hall, there is a ground dam of about 200 square meters surrounded by stone slabs. On the stone slabs are vivid scenes such as elk holding flowers, magpies making merry among plum blossoms, phoenixes wearing peonies and unicorns, dragons and elephants.
