Hejiang Tower, an ancient historical landmark, is located at the confluence of the Dongjiang and Xizhi Rivers in Huizhou City, and is one of the six famous towers in Guangdong, on par with Guangzhou’s Zhenhai Tower and Zhaoqing’s Yuejiang Tower. It was also the first residence of Su Dongpo when he stayed in Huizhou. Unfortunately, the original Hejiang Tower, which had suffered damage during the war years, was completely demolished during a post-liberation city wall demolition movement, making its traces difficult to find.
Due to the occupation of the original site, the current Hejiang Tower was rebuilt at a different location starting in 2006. The new Hejiang Tower is located on the east bank of the Dongxin Bridge. The tower is elegant and tall, featuring a Qing Dynasty official style with a multi-eave, pointed roof design. It has gray tiles, white walls, red pillars, and a green platform, with colorful paintings on the brackets and beams. The overall structure tapers upwards, with balconies surrounding each level above the second floor. The main building consists of 8 floors plus a base, totaling 9 floors, complemented by an antique-style wharf and square. [Introduction from Baidu Baike] It is open all day, every day of the year, with specific opening hours subject to the actual situation on the day at the scenic spot.A must-see tip: Hejiang Tower is an excellent spot in Huizhou City to watch the sunrise, with beautiful views available from the west bank of the new Dongxin Bridge throughout the year, making Hejiang Tower a stunning backdrop.
