Hengdian World Studios

Hengdian World Studios is located in Dongyang City in the central part of Zhejiang Province. It is 180 kilometers away from Hangzhou and 95 kilometers away from Jinhua. It is adjacent to Yiwu City, China’s small commodity city. It is currently a large-scale film and television shooting base in the world and is known as ‘China’s Hollywood’.

Most of China’s ancient costume film and television works are filmed here, such as the well-known ‘Hero’, ‘The Promise’, ‘Palace’ and ‘Scarlet Heart’. Here, you can not only encounter film crews and stars everywhere, but even in the streets and alleys or in a restaurant on a certain street corner, people are talking about filming or reciting scripts.

Hengdian World Studios is actually not a city but a town. It is composed of more than a dozen large and small scenic spots distributed inside and outside Hengdian Town. These scenic spots are collectively referred to as Hengdian World Studios.

At present, there are nine scenic spots open, distributed in two areas, south and north of the town. The scenic spots in the south of the town mainly include Shanghe Tu in Qingming Dynasty built according to ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’, the magnificent Qin Palace, the Expo City of Ming and Qing Folk Houses, Dazhi Zen Temple, and the large-scale amusement park Dream Valley suitable for playing at night.

The scenic spots in the north of the town mainly include Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street which reproduces the old appearance of Guangzhou and the charm of Xiangjiang from 1840 to the early 20th century, the Ming and Qing Palace Gardens which is claimed to be a 1:1 copy of the Forbidden City, as well as Pingyan Cave and Huaxia Cultural Park.

There are so many scenic spots in the film and television city. A one-day tour may only be able to see 2-3 scenic spots. If you have enough time, it is recommended to stay for one night, stroll slowly and watch several more performances. Only in this way can you feel the real charm of Hengdian.
