Hepu Town is a town under the jurisdiction of Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. Located on the largest island of Ningbo City, Nantian Island, Hepu Town covers a land area of 102 square kilometers and governs 34 administrative villages and 4 neighborhood committees. According to the sixth national population census, the population is 32,030. The island is rich in resources, with 195,000 mu of shallow sea, 20,000 mu of tidal flats, 22,000 mu of arable land, and 85,000 mu of forest land. Hepu Town has a long history. According to the ‘Xiangshan County Chronicles’ of the Republic of China: it belonged to Taizhou Prefecture in the third year of the Kaiyuan era of the Sui Dynasty, to Mingzhou Prefecture during the Shenlong era of the Tang Dynasty, and was sealed off for defense against wokou pirates in the seventh year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty. It was not until the fifth year of the Guangxu era that it was allowed to be reclaimed and gradually developed into a hub of the north-south sea route.
