The Xiamen Customs Inspectors’ Apartment, located at today’s Zhonghua Road No. 2, was built near Tianwei, opposite the former Dutch Ando Ocean Trading Company building. The land for the building was originally purchased from the British firm, the Taikoo Trading Company. The structure was renovated in 1903, and in 1923, a two-story apartment building was constructed to accommodate five foreign inspector families who lived and worked there.
