Internationally renowned violinist Clara-Jumi Kang is set to hold her first solo recital in Hong Kong, an event that promises to be an extraordinary musical feast. She will be joined by the gold medalist of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Hyun-Ryeol Kim, who has been lauded by the Chicago Classical Review for his “determination, boldness, and impeccable technique.”

Clara-Jumi Kang, an extremely talented musician, is known for her meticulous and elegant playing. Her career began with a series of victories in internationally recognized competitions, including the 2009 Seoul International Violin Competition in South Korea, the 2010 Sendai International Violin Competition in Japan, and a standout performance at the 2010 Indianapolis International Violin Competition in the United States. These achievements established her reputation in the international music scene.

Kang has performed and toured with top orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Recognized as one of ‘South Korea’s 100 Most Promising and Influential People’ by The East Asia Times, her outstanding musical achievements have earned her the prestigious Daewon Music Award and the Kumho Musician of the Year Award.

For her solo recital, Kang will open with the technically challenging and emotionally expressive Bach Chaconne. She will then perform the extraordinary Weinberg Fourth Sonata with Hyun-Ryeol Kim, followed by the emotionally rich and romantic Strauss Violin Sonata.

Clara-Jumi Kang is currently playing on a Stradivarius violin from 1702, known as ‘Thunis’, which adds a historical depth to her performances.
