The Hong Kong Palace Museum’s special exhibition, ‘Hong Kong Jockey Club Presents Series: Stories of Ming Dynasty Figures – Masterpieces from the Palace Museum’, marks the first exhibition in Hong Kong dedicated to ancient Chinese figure paintings. The exhibition has carefully selected 81 sets (97 pieces) of Ming Dynasty figure painting treasures from the Palace Museum’s collection, including works by approximately 60 Ming Dynasty painters, with 14 sets (16 pieces) designated as national first-class cultural relics. The exhibits will be displayed in four phases, each lasting for three months, showcasing around 20 sets of masterpieces per phase. The exhibition is broadly divided into three sections according to the early, middle, and late periods of the dynasty, showcasing the artistic achievements and creative journeys of court painters, literati painters, and professional painters. The aim of the exhibition is to decipher the fascinating stories within the works, display the vivid life scenes of the Ming Dynasty people, and their rich spiritual world, thereby deepening the audience’s understanding and recognition of traditional Chinese painting and historical culture. The exhibition is open from December 13th to November 30th, open Monday, Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. The specific business status is subject to the day’s opening conditions.
