The Hongjun Bridge is located about 15 kilometers west of Taishun County. It spans over the border stream between Taishun County, Zhejiang Province and Lijia Mountain Village, Xixi Township, Shouning County, Fujian Province. The bridge is 40.7 meters long and 4.96 meters wide. It is a wooden arch covered bridge. This is a very young bridge. It was built on December 6, 1954. However, there is a touching story condensed on this bridge.
Relevant story: It is said that there was only a short wooden plank bridge here before, which was easily washed away by floods. In 1934, Red Army soldiers often carried out revolutionary activities in this area. Once, the enemy’s spies learned about the Red Army’s plan to cross the bridge after dark, so they sent people to saw off the wooden plank bridge. At night, due to the flash flood, the Red Army soldiers could not wade across the river.

In this urgent moment, nine underground traffic agents from Lijia Mountain Village made rafts overnight and safely escorted them across the river, thus enabling them to escape danger. After liberation, the soldiers did not forget the deep affection of the people in the old revolutionary base areas and entrusted the relevant departments to build a decent bridge in Lijia Mountain as a memorial. In 1954, the wooden bridge was completed and named ‘Hongjun Bridge’.
