Hongshan Waterfall is located in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, within the Hongshan Township. It boasts an elevation of over 600 meters, with an average annual temperature 4 to 6 degrees Celsius lower than the urban area, offering fresh air and a cool climate during summer and autumn. The meandering stream plummets from a cliff over 80 meters high, and the splashing mist forms beautiful rainbows under the sunlight, hence the name Hongshan Waterfall.
The renowned ancient Chinese historian He Qiao, who traveled through this region, was inspired to write a poem: ‘The red sun shines upon the earth, the flying snow falls in white; the hermit occasionally visits here, thunder and lightning do not startle him.’ Surrounding the waterfall, ancient trees tower and display a variety of shapes, including robust ancient pine and camphor trees that require three people to encircle, and secondary forests that are graceful and twisting. The waterfall is open year-round from 08:00 to 18:00.Preferential policies include free admission for seniors aged 70 and above, free entry for children under 1.2 meters (with adult accompaniment), and free entry for military personnel with valid identification.
