The HSBC Building in Shanghai was designed by the renowned British architectural firm Palmer & Turner. Construction began on May 5, 1921, and was completed on June 23, 1923. It served as the branch building of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in Shanghai from 1923 to 1955, located at 12 The Bund, Shanghai, also known as the Municipal Building. Today, it is the headquarters of the Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. The building is considered a masterpiece of modern classical architecture. It is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
