Hu Gong refers to Hu Ze, a minister of the Northern Song Dynasty. Hu Ze, styled Zizheng, studied in Fangyan during his youth and passed the imperial examination in the second year of Duan Gong of the Northern Song Dynasty. After more than 40 years of ups and downs in his official career, he eventually became the Minister of War. Coming from a humble background, he was well aware of the sufferings of the common people. During his tenure, he advocated for lenient punishments and light taxes, achieving remarkable accomplishments wherever he served.
